How to use Display and Non-Display phones on Campus


Display (NEC Multi-Line Phones)

Placing Calls

  1. Internal Calls - Dial extension
  2. Local Calls - Dial 9+541, then dial their number
  3. Long Distance - 9+1+area code+number
  4. International Calls - 9+011+country code+number

To TRANSFER Call

  1. Press TRANSFER key, receive beeping tone
  2. Dial extension, wait for the first ring
  3. Hang up

To HOLD Call

  1. Press HOLD key
  2. Hang up
  3. Lift handset to reconnect

Conference Calls

(maximum 3 callers)

  1. Dial first party
  2. After they answer, press TRANSFER key (puts caller on hold)
  3. Dial second party
  4. After they answer, press CONF key

Speed Dial Buttons

To store a number...

  1. Do not lift handset
  2. Press FEATURE button
  3. Press the button you want to store the number on
  4. Dial number to be stored (follow rules in Placing Calls)
  5. Press FEATURE again, display shows SPD SET

To use stored number

  1. Lift handset
  2. Press desired speed dial button

To Set Call Forward - No Answer

  1. Lift handset
  2. Dial *3, wait for the beep
  3. Dial ext. Number to forward to
    1. 3535 = Voicemail
  4. Wait for the tone
    1. To cancel, dial #3

To Set Call Forward - Busy

  1. Lift handset
  2. Dial *1, wait for the beep
  3. Dial ext. Number to forward to
    1. 3535 = Voicemail
  4. Wait for the tone
    1. To cancel, dial #1

To Set Call Forward - All

  1. Lift handset
  2. Dial *2, wait for the beep
  3. Dial ext. Number to forward to
    1. 3535 = Voicemail
  4. Wait for the tone
    1. To cancel, dial #2

Feature Buttons

Feature + 1 - Turns MIC on & off

Feature + 2 - Adjusts handset receive volume

Feature + 3 - Selects ring tone (10 choices)

Feature + 4 - Transmission/receiving volume

Non-Display (Scitec/Cetis/Single Line Phones)

Placing Calls

  1. Internal Calls - Dial extension
  2. Local Calls - Dial 9+541, then dial their number
  3. Long Distance - 9+1+area code+number
  4. International Calls - 9+011+country code+number

To TRANSFER Call

  1. Press FLASH key, receive beeping tone
  2. Dial extension, wait for the first ring
  3. Hang up

To HOLD Call

  1. Press HOLD key

Conference Calls

  1. Hang up
  2. Lift handset to reconnect
  3. Dial first party, wait for them to answer
  4. Press FLASH key (puts caller on hold)
  5. Dial second party, wait for them to answer
  6. Press FLASH key - all parties are connected

    1. 3535 = Voicemail
  4. Wait for the tone
    1. To cancel, dial #1

To Set Call Forward - All

  1. Lift handset
  2. Dial *2, wait for the beep
  3. Dial ext. Number to forward to
    1. 3535 = Voicemail
  4. Wait for the tone
    1. To cancel, dial #2
