1. Press the start button on your keyboard or click on it in the bottom of your screen.
2. Click Settings (if you don't see it, start typing Settings until it appears).
3. Click System on the left, then click Power and Battery

4. Click Lid, power, & sleep button control
5. For both of the options marked "Closing the lid will make the PC," select "Do Nothing:

Windows 10
1. Press the start button on your keyboard or click on it in the lower left corner of your screen.
2. Start typing control panel (when you see the icon, like below you can press enter or double click it).

3. In control panel select power options

4. In power options, click on "Choose What Closing the Lid Does" on the left

5. Now change the following settings (you do not need Admin Credentials for these changes, only the bottom "shutdown settings":
a. When I Press the Power button: Change from Sleep to Shutdown
b. When I press the sleep button: Change from Sleep to Do Nothing (unless you have a sleep button on your keyboard(s), then you can leave it alone).
c. When I close the lid: Change from Sleep to Do Nothing
6. Click on Save Changes.

Note: Once you apply these settings, if you are going to be transporting the laptop & placing it in a bag, shut down the laptop to prevent overheating.
You are done.
