Logging into and using an LCC Active Directory attached Mac.
Welcome to your new LCC issued Mac!
With your new iMac\Macbook comes a new way to login. Mac computers are now attached to the LCC Active Directory through Mosyle Auth. This is the directory service that all computing devices authenticate to with your CAS network credentials (CAS - Central Authentication Service). Your new Mac\Macbook must be connected to the LCC network the first time you login. Generally your network credentials for all CAS attached systems for staff or students are as follows:
Staff
Username = LastnameFirst initial (i.e. - SmithJ) or the start of your LCC issued Gmail account before the “@”.
Password = Your ExpressLane/CAS password
Students
Username = L# (i.e. - L12345678)
Password = Your ExpressLane (MyLane) password.
A cached local profile will be created at that time on your Mac. Afterward you will be able to login without being connected to the LCC network. Per network policies you must connect to the LCC network (either directly or over VPN) with your Mac at least once every 30 days to keep your local account active. LCC’s public guest wireless network will not work for this activation.
If you are using a Macbook you may need to be attached to a wired network connection on campus for your first login. If this is not available in your location come to the IT Helpdesk in Building 2 for assistance. If you are picking up your Macbook at the IT Helpdesk please use the wired connection available there prior to leaving. The IT Helpdesk is staffed 8 am-5 pm weekdays if assistance is needed.
Mosyle Auth is the first page you see at the startup of a LCC MacOS as shown at the top of this document. To sign in with a local cached user account (after your initial network authentication) use the person icon in the top right corner as in the picture below. You can also select the wireless icon to connect to local wireless networks. Due to the LCC Wifi configuration you cannot connect to LCC Wifi for your initial authentication.
Mosyle Management System
LCC uses a MDM (Mobile Device Management) system called Mosyle. MDM management is the industry standard provided by Apple for management of enterprise systems. All Apple devices are automatically enrolled in this system at the time of purchase through our Apple Education Enterprise account as part of Apple’s Device EnrollmentProgram (DEP). Software and policy deployment is done with the Mosyle system.
If you need to install or update software on your Mac you will find the Mosyle Manager app under your Applications folder. Most of the software installed on Staff Apple devices can be found under the self-service button. Internet access is required for access to Mosyle deployed software. LCC has access to all Apple devices for software, profile management, OS patching and LCC network security policy maintenance. If you require software not listed in Mosyle Manager please contact the IT Helpdesk.
