The typical Fusion 360 install is user specific and must be installed globally for all users to be able to access the program.
Make sure you have the latest download. If you are unsure, check with Chuck Nickles to verify.
There is no need to uninstall the current version, just install the updated version and it will update.
You should remove the shortcut off the desktop, as you may end up with 2 shortcuts if you don't.
Installation/upgrade procedure
- Place the installation file on the desktop for a smoother local command-line install.
- Open a command prompt and drag the installation file into it. Don't enter anything, simply copy the text that is now showing up in the command prompt (it will not work from here).
- Open an ADMINISTRATIVE command prompt and paste in the text you copied from the standard command prompt window. At the end of that text, type in a SPACE then --globalinstall.
- It should look something like this... "c:\users\lcctech\desktop\Fusion 360 Client Downloader.exe" –globalinstall, (depending on the path of the file) and press enter.
- If you then see a window with animations come up, it is installing and it will take a while.
NOTE:
There is no longer a need to uninstall FireEye in order to get Fusion to install.
