Map Network drives in Windows

  1. Click on the folder icon on the Task bar or press the Windows Key + E on your keyboard to open Windows Explorer
  2. Click on the Arrow next to "This PC" to expand it
  3. With "This PC highlighted, click on the "Computer" tab at the top
  4. Click on "Map Network Drive"
  5. Pick a Drive letter (I usually match what Novell (or your department) uses
  6. for server enter the server you want to connect to followed by the rest of the path. You may have to log into a machine with Novell to see drive list with server/foldernames.
    1. i.e. The “W” drive in Novell is listed as: UserName (\\Union.lanecc.edu\Data1), Windows Mapping you would put in: \\Union.lanecc.edu\UserName
  7. Once the folder you want to map to is in the server field, make sure “Reconnect at sign-in” is selected and click finish or press enter, A new window will appear in the mapped drive and it will appear in the list under the C Drive.

NOTE: For laptops not connected to LCC Wifi or the ethernet on a Lane campus, the mapped drives will have a red X on them until you connect to a campus network (including VPN).
