There are 2 printers in the learning commons that can scan through your L-number. They are the Xerox machines found in the library.

Scanning does not cost anything, so no money will be deducted from your account if you do scanning or copying.  Keep this in mind if you need to print multiple copies of the same document.

How to make paper copies:

  1. Select Alternate Login.
  2. Enter your L# and myLane password.
  3. If the sheet is one sided, place it face-down on glass, upper left corner.
    • Make sure that if you are wanting to make a copy of an 8.5x11" sheet that the 8.5" side is aligned with the top edge of the glass and the 11.5" side is aligned with the left edge.
  4. Select the paper size.
    • You can allow the copy machine to auto-select the paper size. If you want to make sure that your copy is a specific paper size, manually select that size.
  5. Push the green start button.
  6. If you need to scan more than one item, hit "Program next job" before scanning next item, that way it does not log you out.
  7. After you have made a copy, push the Log In/Out button to log out.
If you are trying to make a copy of a two-sided document and wish the copy to be two-sided as well, don't scan the document on the glass. Place it face up in the paper slot located on the top of the copy machine. A green light will come on when the machine recognizes that there is a sheet of paper loaded. Make sure the settings are as you desire (paper size, color/black&white, number of copies, etc) and hit the green start button.

How to scan to USB:

  1. Select Alternate Login.
  2. Enter your L# and password.
  3. Place the document face-down on the glass, upper left corner.
  4. Press the Services Home button to the left of the touch screen.
  5. Insert USB drive
  6. Select Scan to USB.
  7. If you need to scan more than one item, hit "Program next job", that way it does not log you out.
  8. When you are finished scanning, log out of the machine.

How to scan to an email address:

  1. Select Alternate Login
  2. Enter your L# and myLane password.
  3. Place the document face-down on the glass, upper left corner.
  4. Select the Email button.
  5. Select Enter Recipient and type in the email address you would like to send the scan to.
  6. Select Scanned from Xerox, name your document, and press OK.
    • You will be given the opportunity to password protect your document. This is optional.
  7. Push the green start button.
  8. If you need to scan more than one item, hit "Program next job", that way it does not log you out.
  9. When you are finished scanning, log out of the machine.
