Windows 7 "LCC WiFi" Troubleshooting


Windows 7 won't connect to LCC WiFi

  • Open the Control Panel and click on Network and Internet.
  • In the Network and Internet dialog, click on Network and Sharing Center.
  • In the Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage wireless networks.
  • Under Manage wireless networks, click on Add.
  • Click Manually create a network profile.
  • Enter "LCC WiFi" (Case sensitive, space between LCC and WiFi, no quotes) for the network name.
  • Select WPA2-Enterprise for Security type.
  • Select AES for Encryption type.
  • Make sure that the "Start this connection automatically" box is checked and click Next.
  • You will be presented with a success dialog, click "Change connection settings."
  • In the “LCC WiFi Wireless Network Properties” dialog, under the Security tab:
    • Select WPA2-Enterprise for Security type.
    • Select AES for Encryption type.
    • Select "Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)" for authentication method.
    • Make sure that the check box for "Remember my credentials for this connection each time I'm logged on" is checked.
    • Click the Settings button to bring up the "Protected EAP Properties" dialog.
    • Under "Protected EAP Properties," un-check all check boxes.
    • Select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) as the authentication method.
    • Click the "Configure..." button to bring up the the EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties dialog.
    • Uncheck the checkbox.
    • Click OK and then Click OK in the "Protected EAP Properties" dialog.
  • You will be brought back to the "LCC WiFi Wireless Network Properties" dialog. Click the "Advanced Settings" button.
  • Under "Advanced Settings" 802.1X tab, check the "Specify authentication mode" checkbox and choose "User Authentication" from the dropdown.
  • Click the OK button.
  • Choose LCC WiFi from the list of available networks.
  • Click the Connect button. The computer should automatically connect to LCC WiFi when it is in range of the network.
  • You will be asked to provide your network authentication credentials.
    • Enter your L-number in the username space.
    • Enter your Password (the same password as myLane) in the password space.
    • Click OK to apply your credentials.
  • You will now be connected to LCC WiFi and you will be automatically reconnected as long as the network authentication information remains valid.

 

LCC Wifi Profile Installer

The .exe file applies configuration settings for Windows 7 to allow for a persistent wifi connection.
To install the LCC Wifi profile on Windows 7 follow the guide HERE

If you continue to have difficulties connecting to LCC Wi-Fi, please stop by the SHED desk and ask for the mobile device technician.
The technician will check your Wi-Fi settings and if needed, will install the LCC WI-FI profile.
