Users With Existing Google Accounts

What if I already have a Google account?

No problem! Your G Suite for Education account will not affect your existing personal Google or Gmail account. Your G Suite for Education account at Lane provides the benefits of using Gmail and other Google tools in an ad-free environment with unlimited storage on Google Drive.

Can I merge my personal Google account with my Lane Community College G Suite for Education Account?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to combine two accounts or to merge data. A data moving tool is available for certain services if you’d like to transfer your data to your G Suite for Education account. However, the tool only is available for some G Suite for Education Apps. Keep in mind that your Lane issued account will be inactivated 4 terms after you stop taking classes; at that time, the only way to regain access will be to enroll in a class at LCC.  For more information see the G Suite for Education Accounts Help page.

Can I forward email from my Lane-provided email to a personal email account

It is technically possible to forward your Lane email to your personal email, but we don’t recommend it:

  1. Delivery of mail to you and from you will be less reliable; subject to spam filtering, delays, and delivery failures.
  2. It will make your private grade or other information less secure.
  3. We cannot guarantee delivery in the event of a complaint or legal issue.
If you absolutely need to forward your email to a different account instructions can be found here.

Google has signed a contract committing them to uphold a strict privacy policy and to always treat your personal information with the utmost care and security. Google has agreed that Lane student data is subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) when in Google's possession. Read more about Google Privacy & Security
