Staff: Change Preferred Email

Description: Do you want to switch to a staff LaneCC email account but the preferred email fields are locked in myLane? Were you a student and then hired as faculty and want to use your new LaneCC staff email address in Moodle? Did you accidentally set your email as your preferred email in Gsuite?

Staff: Change Your Preferred Moodle Email

Staff members have two email addresses: one which ends in and one which ends in While your is assumed to be your primary email address as a staff member, you may want to change which of your emails is your primary.

Your primary email is where Moodle messages go to, as well as any automated emails from Lane Community College.

Changing Primary Email via myLane

  1. Log into myLane with your L# and password
  2. In the Personal Information box on the right hand side, click on Update E-mail Addresses

  3. In the Email Addresses, select the drop down menu next to Type of E-mail to Insert and then click Submit

  4. Add in the email address to boxes and then click Update


Changing Primary Email via Gmail Claim Page


  1. Go to and log in with your L# and myLane password. If you do not have the option to make an email your preferred email, you only have one account and don’t have to worry.
  2. Make sure your account is set as preferred by clicking Set (address) as my preferred email.
