Add a Screencast-O-Matic Video to Moodle via Google Drive

  1. Choose where you want to upload, i.e. saving it as a video file or uploading to YouTube or Google Drive. We would suggest uploading to Google Drive to preserve the security of the file.

  2. Set the publishing options to your choices, then select Publish, this puts the video in the area of interest.

    1. Note: All video content created by Lane staff and uploaded to Moodle NEEDS closed captioning. Please request closed captioning by emailing the ATC or by filling out the following form: link to form
  3. Once you’ve found the video in Google Drive on the homepage of your Google Drive, open the video and check the Sharing settings (three dots stacked on top of each other) for the video in the top right hand corner of the screen.

  4. Choose Share in the drop-down menu. Make sure the link is set to Anyone at LCC with the link can view.

  5. Click Add an activity or resource and select Page. Title the page, and in the text box, select the Insert Moodle Media box (red highlighted box.)

Once you click on that box, you’ll see a box prompting you to find/upload a sound, video, or photo, click on it. Select Google Drive.
  6. Once you’ve selected Google Drive, it will ask you to sync your account with Moodle to get the video, (this is a one time login to sync the two accounts.) Scroll or search for the video file, and select it. You’ll see a pop-up box like this, click Select This File.
  7. It’ll take a few seconds for the video to be processed. The video will appear in the Moodle media box. Click the green Insert button in the bottom left hand corner.
  8. The content box will look similar to the image below. The video will be embedded into the course now.
  9. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Save and Display. The video will show up embedded now.
